Proven Leadership for the Harbor City

Meet Councilwoman Thomas

Debbie Thomas was born in Montreal, Canada, and was four years old when she moved with her parents to Satellite Beach. She attended Satellite High School and Brevard Community College (now Eastern Florida State College).  She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2004.

Debbie had a 10-year career in public safety working as a paramedic for the Harbor City Ambulance Service before retiring to raise her three children. In 2000, she worked in education, serving as an assistant teacher for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy.

Debbie and her husband John have three children: Josh, Matthew, and Danielle.

Debbie sits on the Board of Directors for the Melbourne Airport Authority.  The Orlando Melbourne International airport land is owned by the City of Melbourne.

The property is thriving with jobs, which have been facilitated by capital improvements and facility improvements, including runway improvements and a new flight tower.

The improvements to Orlando Melbourne International Airport and related industries have added thousands of jobs through Northrup Grumman, Harris, Embraer, and STS aviation group, among others.
